As the summer continues, I find myself digging deeper and deeper into wordpress, wordpress multi user and buddypress. The options and opportunities continue to seem endless.
Adding buddypress onto wordpress is a simple install. If you have a wordpress blog, you can install buddypress as a plugin with only a few clicks – the same as any other plugin. With buddypress you can set up forums, groups and all sorts of other goodies. Social networking in a box. The install I am playing with this summer is here if you want to take a look. If you want in to play, just send me an email glassbeedatgmaildotcom and I can set you up a dummy account for the summer before school starts.
This morning I’ve found the buddypress courseware plug in. Once you have buddypress installed, you can install this plugin on top of it. This gives you a ful featured, absolutely free learning management system. Courses, discussions, assignments, tests, document uploads, and all the other goodies you’d expect, only with buddypress courseware you pay zero dollars. The designer of this plugin did it as part of the Google Summer of Code and is looking for advice, feedback and other ideas you might have for him.
Oh, and of course, there is this video as well.
I hope systems like Blackboard are listening.
