I’ve been doing more thinking this week about what I learned from writing my Education and Venture Capital Funding post. I also took some time to look around on twitter to see what kinds of ipad apps people are recommending to use in classrooms for the upcoming school year. Given the trend of apps and software that adapt to what learners are doing when they use them, changing what they present depending on the results of the learner, this has me thinking about automating teaching and learning. When this trend travels further down the line, where some software algorithm is making the decisions about what kind of content the learners in your classroom are presented with in a variety of subjects, I wonder what the role of the teacher will be?
It makes me wonder if there will be a market in schools and classrooms that reject this trend? A sort of handcrafting in education movement where decisions about learning, skills and content are made by trained and experienced professionals instead of by apps and software?
Think of it as etsy for education.
